Viscosupplements are gel-like fluids containing hyaluronic acid injected directly into the knee joint to supplement the natural joint fluid in lubricating the knee and relieving painful symptoms of degenerative osteoarthritis.

There are many different types of viscosupplements including Monovisc, Orthovisc, Synvisc and others. They are approved for the treatment of knee osteoarthritis, can be purchased from the clinic at a reduced price than from our local area pharmacies, and injected by one of our three orthopaedic surgeons should you be a candidate after consultation, physicial examination and possible radiographic studies.

The side effects of these injections range from slight injection-site irritation to knee swelling and pain that may last several days. The effectiveness varies between patients but can last for up to 6 or 8 months depending on response and formulation used. Contact the clinic for more information at 647-748-1005
